SENSREC-DW Phase 4 consultations held in Dhaka to advance green and safe ship recycling
Bangladesh, in conjunction with the International Maritime Organization, the International Labour Organization and with support from Norway, launched SENSREC-DW Phase 4 in Dhaka on 29 October 2025. The event drew participation from government officials, national stakeholders and international partners to hear and engage with plans for the next stage of safe and sustainable ship recycling.

SENSREC Bangladesh marks Phase 3 completion and sets course for renewed support to ship recycling reforms
Legislative recommendations to strengthen Bangladesh’s ship recycling industry are set to progress through established national procedures toward eventual consideration by Parliament, following the completion of SENSREC Project Phase 3. The proposed reforms are some of the project outcomes that were reported during a SENSREC dissemination workshop that was held in Dhaka on 28 October 2025.

Bangladesh expresses commitment to ship recycling reforms ahead of SENSREC Phase 3 close
Bangladesh has underscored its commitment towards building on the gains made in the ship recycling industry to align the sector with the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. The sentiment was expressed during meetings between SENSREC Project and government officials in Dhaka ahead of a closing workshop.
